(Aplothorax burchelli)

syn. -

distribution:

British Overseas Territory of Saint Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha: Saint Helena

local name: -

size: ca. 3,8 cm (length)

extinction date: last found in 1967

This flightless species, the only one within its genus, was already considered extinct since almost one hundred years, when in the year 1967 adult beetles as well as larvas of this species were found. Unfortunately this rediscovery was also the last confirmed sight, because since that date nobody ever found again even one single specimen of this species.
