Artemia gracilis (Verrill)
|Woodentub Brine Shrimp
|local name: -|
extinction date: (?)
|The Woodentub Brine Shrimp
was described in the year 1869 - and in fact on the basis of specimens
from water casks (?) in New Haven in Connecticut.
The species is, however, most probably identical with the very common San Francisco Brine Shrimp (Artemia franciscana (Kellog)), but this cannot be proven at the moment.
