This species, that was about 1,5 to 2,5 m tall, is only known from a single specimen, that was found in the Kalauao Valley in the Ko'olau Mountains on the island of O'ahu.

The leaves of this species reached a length of 15 to 20 cm and were 3 to 9 cm wide. The upper surface, above all on young leaves, was covered with white hair.

The white flowers appeared solitary from the leaf axils.
