Euphrasia mendoncae   (Samp.)

Mendonca's Eyebright
(Euphrasia mendoncae)

syn. Euphrasia minima (Jacq. ex DC.)

Portugal: Braganša District

local name: -

size: (?)

extinction date: sometimes after 1932 (?)

This species was scientifically described in the year 1936 on the basis of material collected in 1932 in the Braganša District, in the north of Portugal.

All later searches were unsuccessful - the species was never found again and is now considered most probably extinct.

There is, however, a possibility that this species is identical with the Dwarf Eyebright (Euphrasia minima (Jacq. ex DC.).
