This species was an inhabitant of the Cabbage Tree forests, among other things, composed of the species She Cabbage (Lachanodes arborea) und He Cabbage (Melanodendron integrifolium), of the central island plateau and was found e.g. at High Peak and Diana's Peak.

The species was obviously already quite rare at the time it was scientifically described in the year 1877.
