While one of the subspecies of the Southern Small White, namely the South-Alps Southern Small White (Pieris mannii alpigena), is extending its range over the "Schweizer Mittelland" region since 2008 and will be certainly moving further north in the future, two other, relatively rare local forms are meanwhile extinct.

The Moroccan Southern Small White, which was found only in the Central Atlas Mountains, was last seen in the year 1999 and is now considered possibly extinct.

The Hungarian Southern Small White did only occur in a very restricted area in the hungarian Bükk Mountains.

This subspecies is now also considered possibly extinct.
