Prestonia schumanniana   (Woodson)

Schumann's Prestonia
(Prestonia schuhmanniana)

syn. -

Ecuador: Guayas Province

local name: -

size: (?)

extinction date: sometimes after 1892 (?)

The genus Prestonia comprises about 60 species of climbing plants, that are native to the New World.

Schumann's Prestonia is known only from the typus material, which was collected in the year 1892 in a coastal dry forest in the canton Balao in the south of the Ecadorian Guayas Province.

The native vegetation in the typus locality is completely destroyed today, and this species therefore most likely extinct.
