| This, not as yet described
species from the genus Ptilinopus was identified on the basis of subfossil
bones found on the island of Tubuai in the Austral archipelago. All that is known so far is, that it differed from both the Rapa Fruit Dove (Ptilinopus huttoni), which is a unusual large bird for its genus, as well as from all other extant polynesian members of its genus. |
