distribution:

France: Commune Cry / Department Yonne / Burgund

local name:

Violette de Cry (French)

size: ca. 20 cm (heigth)

extinction date: ca. 1930

This middle-sized, purple-flowering violet species was confined to a highly restricted area, some limestone outcrops within the commune Cry.

The exploitation of the limestone but also the uncontrolled collecting of the plants themselves led to the finally extinction of this species.
